About Dr. Jared Berger, Psy.D., C. Psych., Clinical Psychologist
Dr. Jared Berger earned his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) from the Adler School of Professional Psychology (APA-accredited program). He is registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario in the area of Clinical Psychology working with children, adolescents, and families. He completed an APA-accredited predoctoral internship in children and adolescent clinical psychology located in outpatient community mental health and school-based settings. Prior to his doctoral studies, Dr. Berger received his BSc (Hons.) in Psychology from York University. He also holds a MA in Counselling and Organizational Psychology, and a Certificate in Group Psychotherapy.
Dr. Berger has been providing psychological services in York Region since 2013. Dr. Berger provided assessment, therapy, and consultation services for five years at The Child and Adolescent Psychology Centre (CAP Centre) in Aurora. He volunteered as the co-clinical director of Special Olympics Ontario’s Strong Minds, an athlete mental health education program. He was the staff psychologist at Mackenzie Health Hospital’s Shaw Clinic (Youth Anxiety and Mood Disorder Clinic). For four years, he was an interdisciplinary team member at York Hills Centre for Children, Youth and Families.
At Psychability, Dr. Berger provides comprehensive assessment services including gifted testing and diagnosis of learning, attentional, autism-spectrum, behavioural, and social-emotional disorders. He is a CACBT certified cognitive-behavioural therapist. He provides evidence-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to children, adolescents and their families dealing with anxiety, depressed mood, and social skills concerns.
Dr. Berger believes in life-long learning and is active in professional development such as attending clinical training and workshops. About Akanksha (A.K.) Sharma, M.A., Ph.D. (Candidate), Clinician
Akanksha (A.K.) Sharma, M.A., Ph.D. Candidate, is a doctoral student in the School/Applied Child Psychology Program at McGill University. She has trained at a number of settings including the McGill Psychoeducational & Counselling Clinic, the McGill University Health Centre, Summit School, and the English Montreal School Board. She has worked at the Child and Adolescent Psychology Centre and the Halton District School Board. Presently, she is a psycho-educational consultant at the Peel District School Board.
Akanksha is supervised by Dr. Berger in the provision of assessment and evidence-based treatment for children, adolescents, and families using cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). She has several years of experience providing psychological services. Her experience includes Anxiety Disorders, Mood Disorders, Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder, and Social Skill Deficits. At Psychability, AK provides children and adolescents with access to virtual therapy services using our online video therapy platform.
About Monica Martinez, B.A., Intake Coordinator and Office Administrator
Monica Martinez received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from York University. She worked in medical and mental health clinics in York Region. As intake coordinator and office administrator at Psychability, she is the first point of contact for clients to schedule their intake appointment or learn about our assessment, virtual therapy, and consultation services.
